Tips to improve your Immunity during Covid 19 at home
Worrying
about Covid 19? Do no more. Indi-Mart is happy to tell you that you can improve
your immunity at home. Your immune system is your body’s defense system and a
healthy immune system consists of two components: the innate system you are
born with and the adaptive immune system that develops when exposed to those
“outside invaders.” Both work together to keep you healthy. And in these
difficult times, it’s important to maintain those and that too sitting at home,
since going outside is dangerous.
Indi-Mart
has listed down five tips to improve your immunity during Covid 19 at home.
1. Maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Healthy
lifestyle is the key to healthy immune system. This includes maintaining a
healthy weight, eating a healthy diet, exercising regularly, not smoking
and limiting the intake of alcohol. Wash your hands thoroughly and often before
eating, before and during cooking, after using the bathroom, after we blow our
nose, after coughing or sneezing, and before or after caring for someone
who is ill. Lather hands with soap and scrub the hands and between fingers for
a minimum of 20 seconds before rinsing.
Take proper sleep as it restores and recharges your body. Getting a good
night’s sleep of 7 to 8 hours can help strengthen your immune system. Meditation
reduces stress and anxiety that results in better sleep and improved
immunity. Just five minutes of quiet can be helpful.
2. Eat
more immune-building food.
Certain
foods that may boost immunity, for example, vitamin C has been known to boost
immunity. It includes oranges, cantaloupe, kiwi and even broccoli. Eating
one-half of a raw garlic clove each day, adding foods such as berries, carrots
and spinach that are rich in antioxidants and foods with prebiotics that
contain fibre like asparagus, green bananas, and Jerusalem artichokes are
really helpful.
3. Try
natural immunity aids such as essential oils.
Essential
oils improve immunity especially eucalyptus and tea tree oils. They have antiviral
properties to help ward off infections. Add these oils to an oil diffuser to
inhale them or add to a warm bath or shower. You also could add these oils to
your own homemade hand sanitizer, and absorb them through the skin.
4. Drinking
more water is especially helpful for seniors.
Staying
hydrated is important for optimal body and immune system function. But as you
get older, you may lose some of your sense of thirst. Therefore, it’s
important to ensure you get enough water each day. Try drinking a glass of
water when you first get up, before and after each meal, and before you go to
bed. Always keep a water bottle with you to remind you to take a sip throughout
the day.
5. A
positive attitude leads to better immunity.
A positive
mind-set and attitude leads to better overall health and well-being, and also
can lead to improved immune health. Proper mental, emotional and physical
health means better immune system. “Think happy thoughts” or “Turn that frown
upside down” actually have positive effects on your immune system. Also try spending time with your
loved ones. Pick up the phone and call a friend, text a relative, or
participate in a Zoom community class.
A good health starts with a good mind. You
need to think better, feel good and then your health will be best. Indi-Mart
advices you to take necessary precautions and follow these tips to maintain
immunity just by sitting at home.
